The first thing Kassie did was clip Ginger's neck so that she could more easily find the jugular vein. |
| |
She then pinched off the vein so it would pop out, and proceeded to poke it with her finger to feel it "bounce." When it was firm she knew that it was ready. |

Kassie than inserted the needle into the vein that was ready. |
| |
Kassie than drew back the plunger and the syringe proceeded to fill with the blood from Ginger's Jugular Vein. |

Kassie with her well deserved syringe full of blood...... and a smile to boot! Well-done kiddo!!! |
| |
Kassie waits until she has almost the necessary 3 cc's before retracting the needle. |

Project complete:
Ready to package up and ship off to the lab! |
| |
Kassie inserts the needle of the syringe into a 3 cc vacuum blood-tube with special preservatives in it, so that it can be shipped off to Washington State University to be tested. |
The vacuum sucks the blood into the tube. |
