The nation's largest goat abattoir in south-west Queensland has begun a $2 million expansion.
Western Exporters at Charleville already sends processed goat meat to more than 30 countries, including markets in the United States, Canada and the European Union.
Managing director Neil Duncan says the expansion will create another 50 jobs, and will boost export income by $15 million a year.
"Well, this will increase our production up to about 3,000 in an 8 hour shift of skin-on goats," he said.
"Our main market is the US, it consumes probably about 70 or 80 per cent of our product and then you have the Asian countries like Taiwan which is big for about 6 months of the year for their winter season."
